Comfort experience of people, wearing clothing can be predicted. A model was developped for describing this, and implemented into the Brapa Clothing Optimizer.
Per body part, the user can choose which clothing layers are worn (see figure).
When the person performs physical labour (such as running cycling or walking), he will produce heat and sweat. His comfort experience can be predicted in time, depending on the environment he is in (air temperature, relative humidity, sun heat radiation, wind). See for instance below his/her core temperature in time for different clothing configurations:
Not only the core temperature can be calculated in time, but a lot more comfort parameters can be calculated, such as:
- Core Temperature
- Skin temperature per body part
- Sweat Rate per body part
- Metabolic Rate
- Body Heat Resistance
- Body Heat Content
- Vaso Dilation
- Vaso Constriction
- Skin Blood Flow
